I’m on the board of directors for SAFE – The San Diego Advertising Fund for Emergencies. SAFE is a volunteer, non-profit organization (501c3) dedicated to providing financial aid in life crisis situations to members of the San Diego County advertising and marketing community and their families. If you have been employed in the San Diego advertising industry (or one of the supporting industries like printing, graphic design, promotional products, etc) for a continuous period of three years and not absent from the field for more than one year, and you find yourself in a life crisis, you can apply for financial assistance from SAFE.

This is a project we produced for them to highlight one of their success stories.

We were very happy to host UCSD’s Digital Arts Center in the studio for two of their studio production classes. This video was produced as part of the class. Student Tom Antl set up some of the lighting elements, shot all of the clips in the opening sequence, and was the roving 3rd camera during the interview. He also edited & color graded the piece as well as created the simple animations at the beginning and end. The class was being lead by professional photographer David Max Steinberg.

A prospective client has asked to see our capabilities in the field of product beauty shots… hopefully this proves we’re capable!

This is a quick test shoot we did (with two color treatments) to demonstrate a “witness protection” concept for a client.

We are very excited to have completed this 30-second spot for Passages Malibu’s book on recovery called the Alcoholism and Addiction Cure. Passages provides a unique and proven program for recovery from substance abuse that focuses on the root causes of a person’s addiction. They came to Groovy to help create a spot that creates an emotional impact. The spot was directed by Bruce Caulk of Intelliscape Films.

This was b-roll for the fashion career college located in San Diego. We had a bunch of models come into our studios to do a photo shoot. The photographer was snapping pics for the college and I filmed what was going on. I ended up cutting together some cool shots, then added a quick color timing in FCP.  the clients cut will have a stock music track.

From Qualcomm, Inc’s Leadership Summit 2009; Mark Oliver from John Deere (yes, THAT John Deere) talks about how Qualcomm’s Smart Services helps keep their end users running efficiently. Groovy Like a Movie is proud to have partnered with Qualcomm, Inc to produce this project. What I find interesting about Mark’s talk is how wireless technology has infiltrated and improved industries that we don’t generally think of as high tech!
